What Sits Under a Lincoln
Because Lincolns are built on Ford platforms, their batteries follow the same sizing and the same battery management system. That system learns the battery's age and condition, and relies on that record to set how strongly it charges. A new battery needs the history cleared, or the car keeps charging it as if it were the worn one it replaced.
Full-size SUVs such as the Navigator carry a lot of equipment: heated and cooled seats, rear screens, power running boards and a powerful audio system. In the heat, with the air-conditioning running at idle, that load wears a battery quickly.
The plug-in hybrid versions of the Aviator and Corsair use the 12-volt battery to power their electronics and switch on the high-voltage system. That unit is changed on site; the dealer keeps the high-voltage side.
