The short answer
Amaron units sold in Dubai carry JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) codes, which pack the performance rank, case dimensions, length and terminal side into one short label. The 8 you will meet most often are, in rank order, the 46B24LS, 55B24LS, 75D23L, 80D26L, 85D23L, 95D31R, 105D31L and 110D26L, and each code tells you whether it fits your car before the bonnet is even open.
Few cities make these codes as important as Dubai does. Summer air regularly passes 45°C and the engine bay can top 80°C, and a unit of the wrong size or with its posts on the wrong side wears out faster, puts strain on the cables and lets you down when you can least afford it.
We bring genuine Amaron stock to you anywhere in the city, Investment Park and Jumeirah as much as Al Quoz and Deira, with mobile fitting on the same day, a free battery test and warranty cover of up to 24 months.
How Do You Read an Amaron Size Code?
Picking the correct unit starts with the JIS code on its label. The Japanese Standards Association sets that system out in JIS D 5301:2019, which governs lead-acid starter units, and Amaron’s JIS codes use it.
Using 55B24LS as the example, the code splits into 5 parts:
| Part of the Code | Meaning | 55B24LS Value |
|---|---|---|
| First 2 digits (55) | Performance rank combining CCA (cold cranking amps) and reserve capacity. The higher the number, the stronger the unit. | 55 = mid-range performance |
| Letter (B) | Case width and height group | B = 129mm wide, 203mm tall |
| Next 2 digits (24) | Battery length in centimetres | 24 = approximately 238mm long |
| L or R | Terminal side. L means the negative terminal sits on the left as you face the long side with the terminals nearest you. | L = left negative terminal |
| S suffix | Slim (small-diameter) terminal posts | S = slim terminal posts |
Why it matters: a unit with its terminals on the wrong side forces the cables to stretch or kink. That strains the connectors, slackens the clamps as the months go by and speeds up corrosion, and in severe heat a badly fitted battery wears out sooner than one fitted correctly.
Eight Amaron Sizes Dubai Drivers Should Know
1. Amaron 55B24LS - 45Ah | The Saloon Favourite
This is the size we are asked for more than any other. It suits the compact and mid-size Japanese saloons that fill Dubai’s roads, from the Nissan Sunny to the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla.
Main figures:
- Voltage: 12V
- Capacity: 45Ah
- Standard: JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard)
- Terminal: negative on the left (L)
- Posts: slim type (S)
- Build: sealed, maintenance-free
Typical cars: every generation of Corolla, plus the Yaris from Toyota; the Civic in FD, FB and FC form; the Mitsubishi Lancer; and the Nissan Sunny.
How it copes here: the 55B24LS is comfortable in stop-start city traffic. Being sealed and maintenance-free, it resists acid stratification, where the electrolyte separates into layers and capacity drops. That fault is common in cars making short daily runs on Emirates Road or Al Khail Road, because the engine is switched off before the unit has fully recharged.
2. Amaron 80D26L - 60Ah | An All-Rounder for Mid-Size SUVs
Packing 60Ah into a D26-class case, the 80D26L is the standard fit for mid-size saloons and smaller SUVs sold in the UAE.
Main figures:
- Voltage: 12V
- Capacity: 60Ah
- Standard: JIS
- Terminal: negative on the left (L)
- Performance rank: 80, meaning strong starting power for bigger engines
Typical cars: the Camry of the XV40 and XV50 years, Hondas from the 7th to the 9th generation of Accord, the Mitsubishi Galant, the Altima from Nissan and the Mazda 6.
How it copes here: at idle the alternator turns slowly, so when you sit at a red light in Dubai Marina or Al Rigga the AC blower and cooling fans can lean on the battery to cover the shortfall. A smaller unit lets the voltage sag under that load, which is hard on electronics and, over time, on the starter motor. The 80D26L’s 60Ah reserve keeps the voltage steady through those waits.
3. Amaron 85D23L - 60Ah | An Alternative for the Camry and Patrol
It has the same 60Ah as the 80D26L but sits in a D23-class case. That case is shorter and suits older Toyota and Nissan engine bays where a D26 will not sit properly.
Main figures:
- Voltage: 12V
- Capacity: 60Ah
- Standard: JIS
- Performance rank: 85, above the 80D26L in the same capacity class
Typical cars: the Lexus ES300, the Toyota Cressida, Camrys of the XV20 and XV30 generations, and the Y60 and Y61 Patrol from Nissan.
A rank of 85 against 80 means more cold cranking amps from the same capacity, so the 85D23L is the one to choose when your car’s original spec lists it.
4. Amaron 75D23L - 55Ah | A Dependable Middle Option
In output the 75D23L sits above the 55B24LS and below the 85D23L. It suits many Nissans and Toyotas and balances capacity against cost well for daily commuting.
Main figures:
- Voltage: 12V
- Capacity: 55Ah
- Standard: JIS
- Performance rank: 75
Typical cars: the Primera and Bluebird from Nissan, some Corolla variants, and the XV40 Camry.
5. Amaron 95D31R - 80Ah | For the Patrol and Other Large SUVs
The 95D31R is made for the biggest, hungriest vehicles. The Y62 Patrol with its V8, the Land Cruiser GXR from Toyota and other heavy SUVs like them need a unit with the bulk and capacity to match, and this one packs 80Ah into a D31 case, with the polarity on the right.
Main figures:
- Voltage: 12V
- Capacity: 80Ah
- Standard: JIS
- Terminal: negative on the right (R)
- Performance rank: 95, made for V8s and heavy electrical systems
Typical cars: the Toyota 4Runner, the Pajero from Mitsubishi in V6 or V8 form, the R51 Pathfinder and the Y62 V8 Patrol.
How it copes here: a Patrol runs a V8, dual-zone climate control, heated seats, a powered tailgate and a raft of safety electronics. Summer pushes that engine bay beyond 80°C, softening ordinary cases and speeds up electrolyte loss. Amaron builds the 95D31R for high heat tolerance, so the case holds its shape and the plates stay stable through long spells of heat.
6. Amaron 105D31L - 80Ah | The Recommended Fit for Land Cruiser and Prado
Toyota’s 200-series Land Cruiser, the 150 Prado and 4WDs like them, driven around Dubai and on into the desert, should get this unit as the recommended fit.
Main figures:
- Voltage: 12V
- Capacity: 80Ah
- Standard: JIS
- Terminal: negative on the left (L)
- Performance rank: 105, near the top of the JIS scale
Typical cars: the LX570 and GX460 from Lexus, the 150 Prado, and Land Cruisers of both the 200 and 300 series.
How it copes here: Land Cruisers driven off the tarmac around Al Qudra, Hatta or along the Al Ain road put their batteries through heavy shaking. The 105D31L’s plates are reinforced to absorb shock without the active material working loose from the grids. Material shaken loose this way ranks high on the list of reasons 4WD units die young, and this model is built to stop it.
7. Amaron 110D26L - 80Ah | More Capacity in a D26 Case
Think of it as a bigger-capacity 80D26L: it drops into the same D26 tray but raises the capacity from 60Ah to 80Ah. That makes it right for larger saloons and crossovers that use the D26 case yet draw more current.
Main figures:
- Voltage: 12V
- Capacity: 80Ah
- Standard: JIS
- Performance rank: 110
Typical cars: the Infiniti Q50, the Z51 Murano, the 10th generation of Honda’s Accord, and the XV70 Camry with hybrid support.
8. Amaron 46B24LS - 38Ah | The Entry Size for Honda and Small Cars
Rated at 38Ah, this is the lighter sibling of the 55B24LS. It is for small cars whose tray is built for a B24 case with slim posts but which do not need the extra capacity of the 45Ah.
Main figures:
- Voltage: 12V
- Capacity: 38Ah
- Standard: JIS
- Terminal: negative on the left (L), slim posts (S)
Typical cars: the Note and the March from Nissan, the Jazz (sold elsewhere as the Fit), and earlier FD-series Civics.
Every Amaron JIS Size in One Table
| Model | Capacity | Case Class | Terminal | Usual Cars in Dubai |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 46B24LS | 38Ah | B (narrow) | Left | Honda Jazz, Nissan March |
| 55B24LS | 45Ah | B (narrow) | Left | Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic |
| 75D23L | 55Ah | D23 | Left | Toyota Camry (XV40), Nissan Primera |
| 80D26L | 60Ah | D26 | Left | Toyota Camry, Honda Accord |
| 85D23L | 60Ah | D23 | Left | Toyota Camry, Nissan Patrol (Y60) |
| 95D31R | 80Ah | D31 | Right | Nissan Patrol V8, Mitsubishi Pajero |
| 105D31L | 80Ah | D31 | Left | Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus LX |
| 110D26L | 80Ah | D26 | Left | Honda Accord (10th gen), Infiniti Q50 |
| 125D31L | 95Ah | D31 | Left | Commercial vehicles, heavy-duty SUVs |
Why Does Amaron Handle Dubai’s Heat Better Than Most?
Local driving throws 4 particular stresses at a unit that cut its life shorter than in most cities:
- Air temperatures over 45°C through the summer
- Engine bays reaching 80°C or more
- Short daily journeys that never let the charge finish topping up
- Air conditioning running non-stop for 10 or more months a year
Each one attacks the battery differently. Heat speeds corrosion of the grids inside; short trips leave it partly charged, which brings on sulphation: lead sulphate crystallises, hardens over the plate surface and removes capacity permanently; and a constant AC load drains it faster than the alternator can replace on brief city runs.
Work published in Battery Energy tracked State of Health (SOH) through 130 discharge cycles: in 40°C conditions it fell to just 10 percent, while at 25°C the same design still held 28 percent. With Dubai spending long periods above 40°C, how well a unit is engineered to manage heat becomes the biggest single factor in how long it lasts.
Amaron counters the 4 problems with 5 technologies of its own:
- SilvenX Alloy Grid Technology cuts internal corrosion in extreme heat, so the plates last longer and capacity holds steady over many cycles.
- High Heat Technology, Amaron’s name for its hot-climate design, is meant to keep the unit stable at engine bay temperatures that shorten an ordinary battery’s life.
- The patented BIC vent lets pressure out safely during hot charging cycles while keeping acid in.
- A low self-discharge design holds its charge through long spells parked, useful for residents who leave the car for days while travelling or over long weekends.
- Vibration-resistant construction shields the plates from the jolts of speed bumps, rough car parks and off-road desert driving.
Looked after, an Amaron should give 3 to 5 years in UAE conditions, while ordinary units without heat-focused engineering usually fail inside 12 to 18 months in the same conditions.
How Do the Seasons Here Change an Amaron’s Life?
March to May (the run-up to summer): stress rises with the temperature, so this is when to test. A unit already struggling in March is very likely to fail by July.
June to September (the height of summer): engine bays can pass 80°C. Units with ordinary cases and separators fail fast in this stretch, which is the heat Amaron’s hot-climate design is built for.
October to February (the mild months): temperatures fall to 18 to 25°C, close to the range where lead-acid chemistry works best. Performance peaks now, and units fitted in these months usually last longer because they start out under less heat stress.
Our advice: have your Amaron tested every 12 months, and change it once it turns 3 years old if you drive daily or run power-hungry extras like rear-seat screens, a dash cam or parking sensors.
Left or Right: Terminal Position Explained
Among the most frequent workshop mistakes is putting an L-terminal unit into a car built for R, or the reverse. The cables then meet the posts at the wrong angle, so the fitter has to stretch or re-route them, leaving loose joints and faster corrosion at the clamps.
L (left) terminal: facing the long side with the terminals nearest you, the negative (black) post is on the left and the positive (red) post on the right. You will find this layout on the 110D26L, 105D31L, 80D26L and 55B24LS.
R (right) terminal: here negative sits on the right, with positive to its left. The 55B24RS and 95D31R both use this layout.
The S suffix (55B24LS against 55B24L) marks slim, small-diameter terminal posts. Case size and electrical output are identical, but the clamps are not interchangeable: a standard clamp will not grip a slim post tightly, and a slim clamp will not fit over a standard one. Check which posts your car’s clamps are made for before swapping one for the other.
Terminal layout is set out in JIS D 5301:2019 from the Japanese Standards Association (JSA), the Japanese standard for lead-acid starter batteries, whose coding Amaron’s JIS range uses.
How to Pick the Right Amaron Battery Size
Four steps get you to the right unit:
- Look at the existing unit’s label. You will find the JIS code, 55B24LS for instance, on a sticker on the lid or the side, and the replacement should carry exactly the same code.
- Confirm the terminal side. Facing the long side with the terminals nearest you, see whether the left-hand post is the positive or the negative; that tells you whether you need L or R.
- Check the case size. If you are thinking of moving up in capacity, take a tape to the length, width and height first. An 80D26L swapped for a 110D26L keeps the D26 case unchanged and drops into the existing tray.
- Match the performance rank or go higher. The leading 2 digits (46, 55, 75, 80 and so on) rank CCA and capacity together. Never go lower than your car needs: a lower-ranked unit starts poorly and dies sooner.

When Does an Amaron Need Replacing in Dubai?
These 7 signs are the surest indicators that a new car battery is due:
- Slow cranking. The starter turns the engine lazily, especially when the car has sat overnight.
- A battery warning light on the dash that stays lit or flickers while you idle.
- Headlights that dim at idle, a sign the voltage is dropping under 12.4V with the load on.
- The air conditioning weakens whenever the engine is at low revs.
- Clicking from under the bonnet as the key turns, because too little voltage reaches the starter for it to engage.
- A swollen or bulging case, which points to heat damage inside or a deformed casing.
- An age over 3 years. Replacing it before it fails saves you a roadside breakdown in the worst of the summer heat.

FAQs
How is the Amaron 55B24LS different from the 55B24L?
The S means small terminals: the 55B24LS has slimmer posts than the 55B24L, matched to the thinner clamps many Japanese cars use. The case dimensions are the same, and so is the electrical output (45Ah, 12V).
Can an Amaron 80D26L be swapped for a 110D26L?
Yes. Both share the D26 case, so the 110D26L drops into the same tray with no changes. You gain capacity, 60Ah up to 80Ah, and the rank rises from 80 to 110, giving more cranking amps and more reserve for cars with heavy electrical loads.
What lifespan does an Amaron have in Dubai?
From 3 up to 5 years, depending on how often you drive, how hard the AC works and whether the car lives in a garage or in full sun. Ordinary units without heat-resistant design usually last only 12 to 18 months in the same conditions.
Is there an Amaron warranty in Dubai?
Yes. Each Amaron we fit carries the maker’s cover, running 12, 18 or 24 months according to the model and including 1 free replacement, and claims come straight to us.
What should go into a 200-series Land Cruiser?
The 105D31L is the recommended match for the Land Cruiser 200 series: 80Ah, a D31 case with the terminal on the left, and a rank of 105 to meet the car’s heavy electrical demand from 4WD systems, air conditioning and accessories.
Which Amaron fits a Nissan Patrol V8?
For the Patrol Y62 V8 the recommended size is the 95D31R: 80Ah, right-hand (R) polarity and a 95 rank, a good match for everything the V8 and its electrics ask of it.
