Mercedes-AMG - C-ClassMercedes C450 AMG Battery Replacement in Dubai
The C450 AMG Sport lasted one model year before Mercedes renamed it the C43, which is why so many parts systems draw a blank on it. Your car is not obscure and the battery is not hard to source. It is simply filed under a different name, and we already know which.

Mercedes C450 AMG by Generation
One badge, two names. These are the years the C450 existed and what it became afterwards.
The only years the C450 badge existed. M276 3.0 biturbo V6, 4MATIC, seven-speed automatic. AMG Sport rather than full AMG, which is precisely why the name was changed.
Identical engine and platform under a new badge. If a supplier has no C450 listing for your year, the C43 entry is the same car.
Why Your Car Is Missing From Parts Catalogues
Mercedes introduced the C450 AMG Sport as a step between the ordinary C-Class and a full AMG. It lasted a single model year. For 2017 the car was renamed the Mercedes-AMG C43, partly to retire the awkward AMG Sport label and partly to place the model clearly in the AMG hierarchy.
Nothing meaningful changed underneath. The M276 3.0 litre biturbo V6, the W205 platform and the 4MATIC drivetrain all carried over. Later cars gained a nine-speed automatic in place of the seven-speed and a marginally more rearward torque split, and that is close to the whole list.
But catalogues are built around badges rather than engineering. Many suppliers simply folded the C450 into the C43 entry and never looked back, which is why an owner searching their own car's name can be told it does not exist. It does. It is just filed elsewhere.
What This Means When You Buy a Battery
Four practical consequences of owning a car that outlived its own badge.

- Search Under C43If a system returns nothing for a C450, the 2017 C43 entry is your car. The fitment did not change with the name.
- Do Not Accept a C300 PartThe most common substitution, and the wrong one. The V6 needs considerably more cranking current than the four-cylinder cars in the same shell.
- Beware the W206 EntryThe current C43 dropped the V6 for an electrified four-cylinder, so the newest listings are a different car again.
- Or Just Give Us the VINWe read the build rather than the badge, which removes the problem entirely.
Signs a C450 Battery Needs Replacing
A ten-year-old AMG-Sport V6 is rarely on its original battery, and these are the symptoms that bring owners to us.
- A longer crank when the engine is hot than when it is cold, the classic biturbo V6 warning
- Start-stop no longer engaging at all
- Drive mode, damper or 4MATIC messages on start-up that clear themselves once running
- An auxiliary battery malfunction message, which is the footwell unit rather than the main battery
- The car flat after two or three weeks standing, which AMG electronics will do on their own
- Any battery of unknown age on a car of this vintage
What a C450 Visit Involves

We Already Know the Car
No explaining that a C450 exists. We know the badge, the year it ran and what it became.Tested Before Anything Is Quoted
Cranking measured under load, plus the auxiliary unit and charging output, before any price is discussed.Correct V6 AGM Fitted
Sized for the biturbo rather than the body, then registered to the battery management system.Handed Back With Records
Start-stop and drive modes proven live, warnings cleared, invoice and warranty issued, old unit recycled.
Ten Years On, Test Before You Trust It
Every C450 on the road is now at least a decade old, and in Dubai that means a car that has been through ten summers. Heat is the dominant factor in battery life here: a lead-acid battery is rated at 25C and loses roughly half its service life for every ten degrees above that.
Cars of this age also tend to be second or weekend cars, which is the other half of the problem. Standing time with AMG electronics drawing, followed by short spirited drives that never fully recharge, is close to the worst duty cycle a battery can be given.
A free test takes a few minutes and tells you whether you have a season left or a fortnight. We will do it wherever the car is parked, and if it passes we will say so.
What Drivers of This Model Say
Every place I called told me they had no listing for a C450 and one insisted the car did not exist. …knew what it was in the first sentence, explained the C43 rename and had the right battery on the van.
Someone had previously fitted a battery meant for a four-cylinder C-Class. It never started well hot. They put the proper V6 unit in, coded it, and the difference was immediate.
Ten year old car, sits most of the week. They tested it first, told me it had a few months left rather than pushing a sale, and I called them back when it finally went. That is why I called them back.
Mercedes C450 AMG Battery Questions
Because the badge existed for one model year. The C450 AMG Sport was renamed Mercedes-AMG C43 for 2017, and most parts catalogues folded the listing into the C43 entry. Search under C43 and you will find your car. We work from the VIN, so the naming does not come into it.
Mechanically yes, for the W205 years. Same M276 3.0 biturbo V6, same platform, same 4MATIC. The 2017 cars gained a nine-speed automatic and a slightly different torque split. Battery fitment is unchanged.
A high-output AGM, generally 80Ah to 95Ah with 800A to 900A of cold cranking, plus the separate auxiliary unit in the passenger footwell. The V6 needs a good deal more cranking current than a four-cylinder C-Class of the same year.
No. It is the most common substitution and the wrong one. The C300 is a four-cylinder car and its battery is specified accordingly. Fitting it to a V6 biturbo gives you a battery working at its limit from day one, which in Dubai heat will not last.
Yes. The W205 monitors the battery through a sensor on the negative terminal and sets its charging rate from that. Without registration it charges for the battery you removed. Coding it at the roadside is included in the job.
We come to you: this is a mobile service, and a technician will attend wherever the car is parked anywhere in Dubai, with the correct battery and the diagnostic equipment on board. If the car genuinely needs recovery rather than a battery, we will tell you that too.
